VICTORIA RIVER DOWNS (VRD)
As we write our update this month, good rain has finally arrived!! Well over 80mm of rain has fallen across the run in the past 3 days, bringing much needed relief to the relentless hot weather.
November was a busy month, turning off the final number of the sale cattle and branding the last of the 0's for the year. The second round weaners have been pulled off mum and will remain on supplement until the country comes away, and they can be moved onto fresh feed.
Our new bulls have arrived from Queensland, and they were in good condition after their long journey.
Over at Humbert River, Jordan and Jonty have demonstrated their carpentry skills, installing new kitchen cupboards in the main house, re-purposing some old jarrah cupboards from one of our other properties in Perth.
The crew enjoyed a few days off in November to travel to Darwin for our Social Club Christmas party. There was a fair amount of competition on the Go Kart track, Jordan was the overall winner, with Sam coming in a close second. Following the Go Kart action, the crew experienced salt water crocodiles up close on the Adelaide River Queen Jumping Croc Cruise. It has been a big year with many challenges and the crew have done a tremendous job completing the work, all with a smile and good morale.
With all seasonal staff now off station on leave, we are winding down for Christmas. Those left on station will be kept busy monitoring waters plus general maintenance around the complex. ... See MoreSee Less

FLORA VALLEY STATION
Since our last update staff have managed to get 6,000 baits cut up and distributed across the 3 Flora Valley leases, along with completing a second round at Flora Valley, Gordon Downs and Nicholson - it was a great effort from everyone, especially as the temperatures hovered around the forties.
We finally got a bit of reprieve from the heat last week with 30mm of rain at Flora Valley and 25mm at Nicholson.... and it looks like more is on the way with storm clouds brewing.
CMT Builders have finished the renovations for the 2IC house and it looks amazing! This final project concludes all our capital work for 2020.... phew!
With another year coming to a close here at Flora Valley, we held our break up party over the weekend to celebrate another successful year. Staff all received a small gift to thank them for their efforts, and it was also the start of staff travelling home for their Christmas holidays. We look forward to seeing most of them again next year.
Merry Christmas to all from Flora Valley and we hope you all have a fantastic New Year! ... See MoreSee Less
